(a) The objects of the Association shall be to promote the benefits to the inhabitants of Cupar and the immediate local area (hereinafter called ‘The Neighbourhood’) by the following aims and purposes: (i) To offer men, women and young people in their leisure and at other times, opportunities of various kinds, complementary to those of home, formal education and work, to discover and develop their personal resources of body, mind and spirit, and thus equip themselves to live the lives of mature, creative and responsible members of a free society. (ii) To draw members into a worldwide fellowship. (iii) To provide opportunities through which members may come to an understanding of the Christian faith. (iv) To work as a lay movement for unity amongst Christians of different traditions. (v) To promote understanding between and welcome into its fellowship people of different groups, nationalities, races and faiths. (vi) To work for peace and justice, freedom and dignity for all groups. (vii) To give guidance to organisations and community groups. (viii) To establish or to secure the establishment of premises for the Association and to maintain and manage, or to co-operate with any local statutory authority or authorities in the maintenance and management of, the Association’s facilities for activities promoted by The Association and its constituent bodies in the furtherance of the above objects or any of them, and (ix) To foster a community spirit for the achievement of these and such other purposes as may by law be deemed to be charitable. (b) The Association will operate an equal opportunities policy. (c) The Association and its constituent bodies shall have power to affiliate to National Associations and other organisations whose objects shall not be inconsistent with these set out above. The Association shall be affiliated to YMCA Scotland (Scottish National Council YMCA) and YWCA Scotland, (together hereinafter referred to as the ‘National Bodies’)
