The principal object of this Society is to afford charitable relief to persons in need, who are Natives or Benevolence, Widows of Natives of Perthshire, and their Children, resident in Glasgow and the neighbourhood, or travelling through the City, and suddenly or unexpectedly falling into distress. also persons who may become Members of the Society, their Members, Widows and Children, but no person, even of these descriptions, shall be entitled to demand, as a matter of right, relief from the funds of the Society-the giving or withholding of the Charity being altogether left to the discretion of the Preses and Directors.
