The cap where you live
Ofgem doesn’t set one price cap. It sets fourteen, one for each electricity region, and the national figure in the news is their average. Here are the rates for yours.

All fourteen regions
Cheapest first, by the yearly cost at Ofgem’s typical use of 2,500 kWh of electricity and 9,500 kWh of gas. Your gas cap follows your electricity region too: Ofgem spreads gas network charges onto the electricity map, so gas zones don’t change what you’re capped at.

Network costs are what Ofgem allows for running the wires and pipes in each region, as a share of all the costs the cap allows before levelisation and VAT. Unit rates and standing charges are shown to two decimal places; Ofgem works to four.
